If you have any food-related questions or specific dining requirements, email dccespecdining@groups.bates.edu.
From time to time we may be required to make a substitution during a meal. If this happens, we will hang a gray card behind the new menu identifier, to alert diners to the fact that it is different from the online and printed menus. As always, it is the responsibility of each diner to check menu cards for allergens before making a selection.
Items made with halal beef or chicken will display "Hm" in their title. Barring supply issues, this will include one entree at each dinner, chicken on the salad bar at all meals, and meat sauce on the pasta bar whenever it is open.
Please note that manufacturers may change the formulation of foods without our knowledge. Other allergens may be present, due to shared preparation areas and the self-serve nature of Commons.
Customers concerned about ingredients should be aware of these risks, be proactive about their food choices and speak with a Manager or Chef before consuming any food items, if they have questions. Bates DCCE only labels for the top nine allergens (Wheat, Egg, Milk, Peanuts, Fish, Shellfish, Soy, Tree Nuts, and Sesame.) It is ultimately the responsibility of the customer to decide what they choose to eat. Bates College does not assume any liability for adverse reactions related to foods consumed or mislabeled, or items one may come into contact with while in the DCCE operations.
